Why was the verb CORRERE used if he was on a bicycle? devo correre a scuola.

missworldtraveler,
in Italian we can say "andare di fretta" or "essere di fretta", to say "to be in a hurry".
Devo sbrigarmi would also mean "I have to rush".
But as you noticed we can use the verb correre to express the same meaning, and yes we can say it even if we're on a bike or driving a car!
